碩士 / 銘傳大學 / 教育研究所碩士在職專班 / 102 / This research aims to escalate the teacher’s professional growth byutilizing teaching strategies to solve parent-teacher conflicts. The actionresearch method is applied in the hope of creating an amiable atmosphere in the classroom, one that helps parents learn about the teacher’s teaching conditions and increases and improves parent-teacher interactions.
The process did not go as smoothly as expected because myparent-teacher relationship with Chun’s parents was not built on mutual trust. I had not been able to receive positive feedback from his parentsafter one month into the action research. I then decided to take a moreproactive approach by inviting Chun’s father to the class to share histhoughts. He accepted the invitation. As a result, I was able to gainacknowledgement by Chun’s father of his son’s misconduct, as well as his assistance with helping Chun reflect on his misconduct whenever he hada behavioral issue.
After the parent-teacher relationship was improved, Chun still hadbehavioral issues but less frequently. I was able to transform therelationship with my students from dominating to friendly after the action. This was a pleasant surprise for me. Moreover, I realized my ownunfairness – Chun was the only student whom I was not open to. It turnsout that the relations among parents, teacher and student are inseparable. I believe that I will have more empathy toward other students like Chun asmy teaching career progresses.
