The auther takes the real transportation problem of Wire EDM machine of one local company for investigation. Using the finite element simulation with ANSYS workbench, nature frequency and the effective stresses of ballscrews of the Wire EDM macine can be obtained. Comparing nature frequency with the transportation frequency, it can get the result that the main purpose of transportation clamps is to protect ballscrews from shock. damage. Comparing the effective stresses with the allowable buckling load, the real transportation problem of the Wire EDM machine can be solved by increasing the stiffness of X axis clamp. At last, this reserch redesigns clamps and enhances the stiffness of clamps to protect all ballscrews from transportation damage.
