A Study Of The Impact By Taiwanese Banks Entering Overseas On Performacne / 台灣銀行業赴海外布局對績效影響之研究

碩士 / 國立中央大學 / 產業經濟研究所在職專班 / 102 / Under competition pressure, local banks have been expand their businiess, establishing branches, abroad one after another. This has become the new strategy to have branches in mainland China by finacial makets between Taiwn and China . However, could this really be profitable for local banks to expand the business oversea?
In this study, divide the total 31 local banks into two groups, one is having branches abroad, and the other one is not having branches abroad.
Furthermore, from the group of aving branches abroad, divid it into another two groups, and that will be one is have branches in mainland China, and the other one is not having branches in mainland China. According the financial ratios and dummy variables, exam the performance and effects on local banking industry with their branches established abroad or in mainland China. Additionally, apply the method of analysis of Panel DATA to track and study the data in order to explor the factors which afftect the performance of banking business in long term.
Anlyze the experimental results: to establish a branch abroad have a positive and significant impact on the ROE (Return on Equity), however another factor indicated to establish a branch in mainland China, the ROA (Return on Assets) &; ROE (Return on Equity) are both having positive significant affected. From the PANEL DATA model can find out the earning spread ratio with establishing a branch abroad and in mainland, the ROA and ROE have either positive or negative significant impact. Regarding the growth of the loan ration and non-performing loan’s ration, without establishing a branch abroad, the ROA and ROE also have both positive or negative effect.
