碩士 / 國立高雄海洋科技大學 / 海事資訊科技研究所 / 102 / This study discussed the relationship between the direction lights and the ships which took place collisions with the other ships sailing at sea. The traditional ships didn’t equip direction lights like the cars, and the direction lights on the cars didn’t suit for the ships either. In order to pass turning message instantly and keep the ships away from collision, we have to consider various factors to design new direction lights for the ships especially. A survey was made through the experts , by means of using the statistical software “SPSS” for data analysis , and we discussed the ship’s direction lights in requirement、willingness to use and the effectiveness of collision avoidance through the people with different background、driving and sailing experience . The direction lights suitable for the ship were designed with new concept. Various hypothetical situations were taken on simulation to verify the device able to produce positive benefits when ship collision’s avoidance was taken. For the ship’s safety of navigation, we found it is necessary to pass turning message instantly to the nearby ships. It’s not the only way, but it’s indeed a simple and effective way to solve ship’s collision by the direction lights. This study could provide the government a reference to amend relevant laws and regulations of the ship's equipment. We wish to evoke the scholar and specialist paying more attention on this respect. Any research and discovery by the scholar and specialist about the safety of life and navigation at sea are welcome and appreciated.
