The Influence of Seafarers’ Loyalty on the Job Performance / 船員忠誠度對工作績效影響之研究

碩士 / 國立高雄海洋科技大學 / 海洋事務與產業管理碩士學位學程 / 102 / Recently shortage of seafarers supply is a key issue which the global and Taiwanese shipping companies concern. Due to the increases the demand for seafarers, the flag of convenience is a common strategy in order to hire foreign seafarers in Taiwanese shipping companies. However, Taiwanese shipping companies only focus on how to effectively manage and to keep experienced and skillful seafarers serving in their companies. Therefore, this study aims to discover the influence of seafarers’ loyalty on the performance and better management system for shipping industry and seafarers. This study discusses the relationships among salary, welfare, promotion system, job attitude, loyalty and job performance from the seafarers’ perspectives through questionnaire survey and in-depth interview. Next, survey data was analyzed with descriptive statistics, exploratory factor analysis, reliability analysis, ANOVA analysis, Regression Analysis. The key findings and implications are: salary, welfare, promotion system had a positive effect on loyalty, job attitude and job performance. Loyalty had a positive effect on job attitude, loyalty and job attitude had a positive effect on job performance as well. The results could be a reference for government and shipping companies to set up a proper management system of seafarers.
