Effects of ozone on biodegradation of organics in lake water / 臭氧對湖庫水生物降解之影響

碩士 / 國立臺灣海洋大學 / 河海工程學系 / 102 / In this study, we intend to examine the effect of ozone addition on the
biodegradation of dissolved organics in eutrophic lake during biofiltration. The raw water fed to biofilters was taken from Rongfu, Lanfu, and post flotation of Rongfu water (PFRW). Operational parameters in experimental study include: ozone contact time (10, 20, and 30 minutes), ozone dosage (0.2, 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0 mg O3/mg C), and empty bed contact time (EBCT) in biofilter (0.5, 1.5, 2.5, 3.0 and 6.0 hours). Results indicated that when EBCT was 6 hours the biodegradation of lake water increased with the increases of ozone dosage and contact time. Four indicators , biodegradable dissolved organic carbon (BDOC) formation, Rmax, first order kinetic constant, k, and removal efficiency, were used to evaluate the biodegradation enhanced in ozone-biofiltration system. First, the maximum BDOC was 2.69 mg/L for Rongfu, 1.86mg/L for Lanfu, and 1.34 for PFRW, while, the maximum Rmaxvalue was 1.4 mg/L/hr for Rongfu, 0.65 mg/L/hr for Langfu, and 0.59 mg/L/hr for PFRW. Furthermore, the maximum k, was 0.97 d-1 for Rongfu, 0.92 d-1for Langfu, and 0.59 d-1 for PFRW. And finally, it appeared that the removal of DOC by ozone alone was less efficient than by integrated ozone and biofilter system. The DOC removal efficiency by ozone application without subsequent biofiltration was below 6%. On the contrary, the DOC removal efficiency in ozone-biofiltration system achieved 22.1% for Rongfu, 20.8% for Langfu, and 14.3% for PFRW.
Future works was suggested to examine the variations in biodegradability of these lake waters in different seasons. Additionally, use of ionic chromatography (IC) method to detect bromate and compare the results obtained herein with those by IC method was also suggested.
