碩士 / 國立臺灣海洋大學 / 海洋生物研究所 / 102 / Shrimps of the superfamily Oplophoroidea are bathypelagic shrimps and widely distributed in the world except for polar regions. This work reports 9 genera and 22 species of Oplophoroidea shrimps from Taiwan, including 4 genera and 15 species as new records. Oplophorid shrimps collected from the PANGLAO 2005 and AURORA 2007 expeditions to the Philippines are also examined though no new record is found. About 31% of world Oplophoroidea shrimps can be found from Taiwan. Analysis of the Oplophoroidea shrimp fauna in the Indo-West Pacific showed that the divisity is highest at West Pacific and progressively decreasing to the Central Pacific. The biogeographical pattern of the oplophorid shrimps dffers from previously proposed biogeographical provinces for other marine animals with the West Pacific region subdivided into 11 zones: Indian Ocean, Indo-Malayan, Southeastern Australia, Papua New Guinea, Micronesia, Temperate Japan, Solomon-Samoa Islands, Hawaii, Kermadec Ridge, French Polynesia and the Easter Island.
