A Mobile Device Application for Tides of Taiwan Coasts / 行動裝置上之臺灣沿岸潮汐水位程式

碩士 / 國立臺灣海洋大學 / 海洋環境資訊系 / 102 / Based on the tidal constants for 8 constituents (M2, S2, N2, K2, K1, O1, P1, Q1) obtained in one-km grid tidal simulation for the Taiwan sea done by Chen and Tsai (2011) and harmonic analysis program by Foreman (1977), this study developed an Android application program for tidal elevation for the Taiwan coasts. This application extracts GPS location on the mobile device to locate the nearest coast to the user’s location and then calculates tidal elevation for the next 24 hours for that coastal location. There is no need for internet connection for the application to show the tidal elevation, as most tidal web sites on the internet require. The unique feature is that this app will plot the hourly tidal elevation for any location along the coast, instead of just a few fixed spots. This application program should be useful for the people engage in fishing, surfing, doing experiments or other leisure activities on the Taiwan coasts.
