碩士 / 國立臺灣海洋大學 / 電機工程學系 / 102 / Ship domain is a conceptual area around a vessel where the mariner wants to keep clear to remain safe. When ships are navigating, mariners want to keep the safe distance from other vessels or obstacle, the safe distance forming a clear area around the vessel.
It is widely used in marine traffic engineering and various applications, such as navigational risk assessment, traffic lane capacity estimation, Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) planning.
This paper use huge amount of AIS data collected along the west coast of the Taiwan Island in 2012 to investigate ship domains with different methods in different sea areas. Finally, we propose ship domain model with geospatial context and direct application in marine traffic engineering.
