Age and growth of anglerfish Lophiomus setigerus in the northeastern waters off Taiwan / 臺灣東北部海域黑口鮟鱇年齡與成長之研究

碩士 / 國立臺灣海洋大學 / 環境生物與漁業科學學系 / 102 / This study aims to estimate the age and growth parameters of anglerfish, Lophiomus setigerus in the northeastern waters off Taiwan. A total of 896 specimens (419 males, 477 females) caught by otter trawls were collected at the Dasi fishing port, Yilan County from Sep. 2011 to Nov. 2012. The size (in terms of length and weight) of sample ranged from 7.6 to 47.5 cm and 7.2 to 1728.7 g. The relationship between body weight (BW) and total length were expressed as: BW = 0.0541TL2.716 (r2 = 0.909; n = 477) for females and BW = 0.0328TL2.806 (r2 = 0.944 n = 419) for males. on an edge analysis indicated the growth band pair on otolith was formed once per year, and the translucent band was deposited in September. The growth band pairs were counted up to 13 for female and 11 for male, respectively. The parameters of von Bertalanffy with size at birth and von Bertalanffy growth functions estimated based on 653 specimens were as follows: growth coefficient k = 0.1525yr-1, asymptotic total length L∞ = 49.5 cm (TL) for females; k = 0.1358 yr-1, L∞ = 41.5 cm (TL), and t0 = -0.68 for males. The largest female was 14.13 yrs old and the largest male was 11.12 yrs old. The longevity was estimated to be 19.63 and 22.04 yrs for females and males, respectively.
