碩士 / 國立臺中科技大學 / 商業設計系碩士班 / 102 / After Martial Law was abolished in Taiwan, Taiwanese society gradually became internationalized and diversified. This, coupled with local cultural consciousness and reflection, people in Taiwan began developing an in-depth understanding of Taiwan’s history. However, the unclarity of Taiwan’s international position has caused substantial controversy in the international community, such as disputes over sovereignty and diplomatic issues. The purpose of this creation is to enhance Taiwan''s consciousness, reflect on Taiwan''s international predicament, and to criticise and reflect upon issues stemming from Taiwan’s international relations through poster design. The present study contains the following three objectives: (a) To stimulate Taiwanese people’s reaction and awareness toward modern society using a post-modern design style and local characteristics and imagery; (b) to enable Taiwanese people to reflect on the context and value of Taiwan’s history and culture by promoting issues on Taiwan’s international relations; and (c) to create posters that emphasize Taiwan’s the present conditions disadvantages as a part of the international community, facilitating Taiwanese people in independently considering concepts relating to The Taiwanese Consciousness.
A literature review was conducted on three primary issues stemming from Taiwan’s international relations: sovereignty disputes, international status, and foreign policies. Subsequently, the present study further examines the following aspects: (a) the post-modern society phenomena and the post-modern creation approaches that local designers’ employ to resolve social and political issues; (b) the summarization and compilation of methods to implement post-modern visual design; and (c) the employment of relevant visual representation methods for poster designs. Furthermore, local characteristics and elements are adopted as creative representations to convey the meaning of the poster. By displaying ideals through post-modernism visual representation, the current condition and disadvantages of Taiwan in the international community is highlighted; thus, stimulating the viewers’ sympathy and reflection and raising their awareness of Taiwan’s future.
