碩士 / 國立臺灣科技大學 / 設計研究所 / 102 / In addition to communicative and informative functions, the artistic value of poster design lies in designers’ utilization and arrangement of a variety of images, semantics and combined elements to improve people’s awareness and understanding toward the message of print media. Poster design will remain highly influential as a critical carrier of the cultural spirit, thoughts and behavioral patterns of the contemporary society.
The purpose of this work was to create posters related to the issue of hypocritical phenomena through the methods of literature review and focus group in order to analyze the composition of hypocrisy: (1) the properties of hypocrisy, (2) explicit presentation and (3) implicit presentation. A design process was compiled for the designer to identify whether the chosen issue contains hypocritical elements mainly through the explicit and implicit presentation of hypocrisy; then the issue was further observed and analyzed for a design direction. Lastly, the narrative features and visual effects of illustration were utilized as the interpretation and presentation of the poster work.
The result of this work was presented by totally nine posters of three series respectively: (1) Puppet: explored exemplary parents glorified by the media and the cycle of violence. (2) Powerless: signified publicity stunts which did nothing practical under the slogan of environmental protection. (3) Dangerous Food: discussed and reflected the truth behind food manufacturing. This work explored current situations from different perspectives and was expected to attract more attention and emphasis on social phenomena.
