Research On Li Yu's Idea Of Garden Space / 李漁園林空間觀念研究

碩士 / 中國文化大學 / 史學系 / 103 / The Late Ming to Early Qing Dynasty was the era of dramatic changes. In addition to political power transfer, the economy of the cities within the Jiangnan region was highly development, and the material culture became the mainstream of urban life.
In the cultural thought, we experienced the Wang Yangming’s Neo-Confucian School of Mind, the Li Zhi’s Theory of Child s Innocence and so on, were advertised with individualism and romanticism. However, Li Yu was born in this era.
Li Yu (A.D.1610-A.D.1680),the first name Hsien Lu, later renamed Yu, the style name Che Fan, pseudonym Li Weng. he was born in South Zhili, Chih Kao (now Rugao, Jiangsu). In the Late Ming to early Qing Dynasty, he had multiple identities such as writer, dramatist, gardener and publisher.
The contemporary study tends to Li Yu's dramatic study and literary work analysis, but lack of the study of Li Yu's garden research. Some research that refers to Garden Theory are focus on Li Yu's life aesthetic experiences(abbreviates Garden aesthetics) and Design Concept, few are focus on the pratice of Li Yu's Garden Theory. because of this, we ignored Li Yu's value on the garden history. This study will focus on Li Yu's garden space concept and pratice and thereby redefining Li Yu's position in the Garden History.
