It’s not only shorten people’s working hours, also increase people’s leisure hours and opportunities. Most people use their free time to do their favorite leisure activities, including the shrimp fishing participants. This study investigated the response of participants of Taoyuan County towards shrimp fishing as a leisure activity. This study used the questionnaire survey of the motivation, involvement and leisure behavior of 440 persons who participated in shrimp fishing in Taoyuan County. The tool of analysis include the ‘motivation scale’, the ‘involvement scale’, the ‘leisure behavior scale’ and the basic datas of the examinants four parts, and 417 samples are valid with a response rate of 94.8 %. The relationship or differences in the response of the shrimp fishing participants in terms of the three factors was analyzed using statistical tools, namely, mean, standard deviation, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson Correlation Analysis and Multiple Stepwise Regression Analysis. The results of this study as following:
1.Shrimp fishing participants demonstrate a medium leisure behavior towards shrimp fishing as a leisure activity due to the participants' motivation and involvement towards shrimp fishing.
2.There was a significant difference in the motivation with shrimp fishing among gender, marriage, seniority of participanting in shrimp fishing, companion, time of participanting in shrimp fishing, time interval of participanting in shrimp fishing, member of the shrimp fishing group.
3.There was a significant difference in the involvement of shrimp fishing among level of education, marriage, seniority of participanting in shrimp fishing, companion, time of participanting in shrimp fishing, time interval of participanting in shrimp fishing, member of the shrimp fishing group.
4.There was a significant difference in the leisure behavior of shrimp fishing among gender, monthly profit, seniority of participanting in shrimp fishing, companion, season of participanting in shrimp fishing, time of participanting in shrimp fishing, time interval of participanting in shrimp fishing, member of the shrimp fishing group.
5.There was some correlation among the motivation, involvement and leisure behavior among persons who participated in shrimp fishing in Taoyuan County.
6.A reliable forecast of leisure behavior can be obtained based on the motivation and involvement of participants towards shrimp fishing.
Based on the research, motivation and involvement can effective to increase leisure behavior of the shrimp fishing participants. The traders can increase more various opportunities, and drill through practice and challenge to get the pleasure, joyous and achievement of life. The relevant units can merchandise the shrimp fishing activity harder, and emphasize on the uniqueness and the convenience of the shrimp fishing activity, make people relax, and then strengthen people’s motivation and involvement, the leisure behavior will be more frequently, and the shrimp fishing industry will be prospered.
