Key Successful Factors of Foreign Investments Strategy for Chinese Languase Cram School-A Case Study in Vietnam Market / 華語文補教業海外投資策略關鍵因素之探討-以越南市場為例

碩士 / 環球科技大學 / 中小企業經營策略管理研究所 / 102 / This paper aims to explore the feasibility for investment of cram schools in Vietnamese Chinese language market, and the key factors of investing strategy. After Vietnam launched economic reform, implemented opening policy, and issued the foreign investment incentive acts in 1986, foreign capital poured into Vietnam. According to the Department of Statistics, Ministry of Economic Affairs, by August 2013, Taiwan had been the third largest partner for foreign investment of Vietnam, with a total investment up to 27.45288 billion USD. Moreover, with the rising of economic power in China, an upsurge of learning Chinese language has emerged around the world. As Southeastern Asia is one of the most intensive investment areas of overseas Chinese, Chinese language learning has become popular in Southeastern Asian countries. This is one of the feasible directions for the internationalization of Taiwan cram school industry.
This study investigates the current situation of overseas schools of Taiwan, and discusses the key factors of overseas investment, in order to understand the investment environment of cram school market of Chinese language in Vietnam.
By interviews, data collection, and expert questionnaire survey, this study adopted DEMATEL to analyze the key factors for the investment strategy of Chinese language cram school market in Vietnam. The results showed that “operating capital”, “geographical position”, “professional knowledge”, “experience” and “governmental regulations” are the key factors that influence the overseas investment strategy of Chinese language cram school market in Vietnam. Further analysis found that, the scholars regarded “geographical position” and “government decree” as the key factors; the governmental officials regarded “operating capital” as the key factor; the industrial representative regarded “operating capital”, “professional knowledge” and “experience” as the key factors; the local Chinese language schools in Vietnam regarded “operating capital”, “experience” and “governmental regulations” as the key factors; the cram school operators in Taiwan regarded “professional knowledge” as the key factor. It is obvious that the key factors perceived by cram school operators in Taiwan and Vietnam is different. In sum, the Chinese language market in Vietnam is one of the overseas investment markets worth considering for the cram school industry in Taiwan. The findings can provide an in-depth understanding on the Chinese language learning market for those who are interested in the market and related governmental authorities.
