However, the evacuation demanding of underground parking space is higher than that of other places because of its complex environment and smoke spread quickly. This study focuses on the performance based on fire safety design and evacuation of the risk factors of large parking space underground street in Tainan City. Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS) was used to simulate the fire scenarios and investigate the effects of risk factors on the fire rescue. The results show that in addition to considering fire compartment design, the underground parking space is supposed to set up equipments with exhaust ventilation and smoke control in order to achieve the safety requirements for personnel evacuation. Moreover, the long-acting air respirator for large underground space rescue increases the rescue time and decreases casualties due to the phenomenon of spatial disorientation caused by hypoxia.
