Difference on Performance of Episodic and Spatial Memory between Patients with Alzheimer’s Disease and Normal Aging / 阿茲海默症患者與健康高齡者於情境與空間記憶表現差異之探討

碩士 / 國立雲林科技大學 / 工業工程與管理系 / 102 / Population aging is taking place almost everywhere in the world. There are numerous problems from an extension of aging. However, aging disease is an important issue. The prevalence of dementia increases year by year, and patients with Alzheimer's disease accounted for the largest proportion. Patients would have significant episodic and spatial memory impairment in the early stage of Alzheimer's disease. Two experiments were conducted to explore the difference on performance of episodic and spatial memory between patients with Alzheimer’s disease and normal aging.
In the experiment 1, participants took the place-object word pairs recall task. Different consistency of word pairs and response time were used. In the experiment 2, participants took spatial landmark location recall task. Different difficulty of landmark numbers and existence of episodic clue were used. Overall, Alzheimer’s disease patients have poorer performance compared to normal aging. Alzheimer’s disease patients have impairment on their episodic and spatial memory. The result of experiment 1 was that there are better performances on consistent word pair and immediately response condition. And in experiment 2, with episodic clue condition didn’t have better performance. These results could offer some suggestions for navigation auxiliary devices, cognitive and interventional therapy for patient with Alzheimer’s disease in the future.
