Competitive Advantage and Strategic Analysis of Microcontroller Design Companies Across the Taiwan Strait – Case Study on F and S Companies / 臺灣微控制器IC設計廠商於海峽兩岸的競爭優勢分析與策略以F及S公司為例

碩士 / 元智大學 / 管理碩士在職專班 / 102 / The objective of this thesis is to discuss the competitive analysis of microcontroller design companies between Mainland China and Taiwan, and to find the advantage and competitive strategies for Taiwan companies. Microcontroller IC has been used as a key component of consumer electronic products, such 3C device、household electronic application、and even in air-conditioning and automotive motors. According to a report from market research institute, IC insights, the worldwide sales of microcontroller would reach $190.71 billion in 2013. Taiwan companies mainly focus on 8bits products.
Due to the advancement of semiconductor process the sales margin of 8bits MCU drops dramatically. Therefore, the Renesas, and Samsung announced pulling out of the 8-bit IC market. Then many design companies in China start entering the market. By imitating the technology, support from government, and the opportunity of domestic demand, Chinese companies share the 8bits market very quickly.
This thesis is aimed to evaluate two case studies at Taiwan MCU design companies by using “Professional Interview”、“Five Forces Analysis”、“Strategic Development” and “Dynamic Capability Theory”, to obtain competitive advantage for
Taiwan companies.
Key words: MCU , Competitive Advantage, Five Forces Analysis, Dynamic Capability Theory, Strategic Development
