Preparation and application of carbon nanotube and exfoliated graphite with chitosan for the detection of heavy metal ions / 甲殼素混摻奈米碳管及膨脹石墨應用於重金屬離子 檢測之研究

碩士 / 國防大學理工學院 / 材料科學與工程碩士班 / 103 / As heavy metal ions severely harm human health, it is important to develop simple, sensitive and accurate methods for their detection in environment. Electrochemical detection featured with short analytical time and low power cost for in-situ measurement. In this study, the chitosan-multiwall carbon nanotubes (Chit-MWCNTs) and chitosan-expanded graphite (Chit-EG) modified glassy carbon electrode was prepared by electrodeposition method. The morphology of the Chit-MWCNTs and Chit-EG films surface were characterized using a field-emission scanning electron microscope (SEM). The mechanisms of interaction of chitosan with metal ions were investigated by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The working electrodes were successfully used as electrochemical sensor for individual and simultaneous detection of cadmium (Cd2+), copper (Cu2+) and lead (Pb2+) in 0.2 M CH3COOH by square-wave anodic stripping voltammetry (SWASV). The developed sensor showed good linear behavior in the examined concentration. For individual Pb2+, Cd2+ and Cu2+ ion detection, a limit of detection was 0.63 ppm (R2=0.964), 1.50 ppm (R2=0.973) and 0.25 ppm (R2=0.968) for Pb2+, Cd2+ and Cu2+, respectively. Micro- fabrication technology has been utilized in this work to realize a new fully integrated sensor with planar modified electrodes and microfluidic channel. The sensor chip was applied successfully to the determination of arsenic as well as heavy metal ions in samples from the soil and water mineral and tap water.
