Taiwan is an island and its main economic strongly relies on shipping. The share of transport goods by maritime cargo transport accounts 90% of Taiwanese whole imports and exports in year 2013. There are about 75,542 vessels, which entry and leave in Taiwanese four major international ports in year 2013. The denseness of cross-strait links passenger transportation, cargo transportation, local maritime tourism, recreation, fishing vessels and other kinds of sea-going vessels increase in Taiwanese sea rapidly in recent years, so that the risk chances of shipwreck is raised.
The current status of Taiwanese and Japanese salvage operation will be mainly analyzed in this study. The analysis aims rescue system, rescue energy, circulate procedure, rescue devices, command &; coordination, personnel training and use of civil resources etc. The present problems of Taiwanese salvage will be also discussed and suitable improvement suggestions will be provided for the rescue system of command, deploy, equipment, training, manpower and other factors.
