LiyuLake in Shoufong township, Hualien County. The clear lake water does not dry up throughout the year. To provide boats sheltered from the weather, build shelter embankment in south lake dike. The embankment substructure builded by cage package with stone and reinforced the embankment in upper part. The embankment constructed on soft silt, there are sustained uneven subsidence and partial damage continues occurrence. The purpose of this study, we hope through simple observations and calculations, can find out the failure mechanism and propose effective prevention methods.
First, Screen three largest measuring point changes from observations data in embankment at south LiyuLake dike, then calculate the relative relationship between the master station and determine the most likely of the fracture surface and angle, to analyze, which identify possible depth of the potential damage in the slide surface of the slide. Through research and analysis, embankment in heavy rain and earthquake, the safety factor are all 1.3 and still less than the 1.5 specification values but greater than 1.0. Show that the embankment is still in stable condition. This inconsistent with the status of a small amount ongoing subsidence and poured, probably because of the embankment is flexible stiffening structure but was regarded as the rigidity while analysis. The present study suggests that increase loading stones beneath the embankment, either without disturbing the the embankment structure and get a good performance. It is an economically viable solution.
