碩士 / 華梵大學 / 美術學系碩士班 / 103 / Nature and art are closely related. Painting creation is done through a combination of observing and experiencing nature, plus training in technical skills. Taiwan’s northeast shoreline has its unique landscape formations, which were the results of millions of years of geological changes. The area includes the sea shore from Keelung eastward past Peace Island to Toucheng Wushih Harbor. Using sketching observation and blending in aesthetic perspectives to show the various beauties of this landscape is both the incentive and the goal of this study.
This thesis is focused on painting creation and its analysis of the northeast shoreline. The study includes the shoreline rock formation, seascape, flora, and human themes along the shore. The thesis is presented in five chapters as outlined below:
Chapter 1. General statements of the motivation, subject matter, and methodology.
Chapter 2. Comparisons of past and contemporary landscape painting theories, sketching and representational techniques of rock formations and sea waves.
Chapter 3. Discussions focusing on the northeast shoreline landscape and seascape aesthetics, and personal plein-air sketching experiences.
Chapter 4. An analysis of the theoretical thinking about the creation of paintings, and its application to the sketching of the topology of the northeast shoreline.
Chapter 5. Conclusion--reflection on the process, and insight gained through this study; and plans for using the knowledge gained as the foundation for future advancement.
