碩士 / 國立高雄應用科技大學 / 國際企業系碩士在職專班 / 103 / This study uses the ocean fright during the period of 2007 to 2014 in replacement of distance in the gravity model to evaluate the impact of ocean freight on the trading flows of petrochemical materials from Taiwan to China, Korea and ASEAN. It analyzes the data of trade and ocean fright to investigate the correlation between distance and freight, and the fluctuation of freight on the trading flows. It further applies the freight volatility to demonstrate the market change of petrochemical industry and the deflation of trading. The empirical result shows negative effect on freight exhibits to trading flows, but no directly proportional to actual distance. It implies the self-sufficiency ratio of petrochemical industry in China and the tendency of demand from ASEAN referring to the freight volatilities of ASEAN.
