The analysis of benthic macroinvertebrate and fish community structure on medial-lower stream of Tanshui river basin and application of biotic index as water quality indicators / 淡水河中下游區域大型底棲生物與魚類群聚結構分析與汙染水質指標之應用

碩士 / 國立新竹教育大學 / 應用科學系碩士班 / 103 / This study was a meta-analysis using the data of ecological survey for Tanshui river, which was collected from October 2011 to June 2012. The data range included 45 sampling sites, each data point comprised physicochemical factors of sampling site, species composition and abundance of macroinvertebrate and fish. According to river pollution index (RPI) evaluated by EPA Taiwan, the most serious polluted waters located at the flow track length at 15-35 Km relative to river mouth as zero point, lower pollution level of upstream and downstream area was due to the dilution effect. The result of canonical correlation analysis (CCA) indicate that macroinvertebrate and fish community structure correlated with physicochemical factors significantly, the most important environmental factor was dissolved oxygen, higher dissolved oxygen indicate higher biodiversity, higher ammonia nitrogen and BOD content indicate serious pollution with lower biodiversity , only limit pollution tolerant species can live in contaminated waters. Biological community structure is well correlated with environmental gradient, and good to be used as biological index. The Family-level Biotic Index (FBI) drive from macroinvertebrate community, Index of Biotic Integrity (IBI) drive from fish community and Abundance Order Weighted Index (AOWI) drive from both biological community can represent the degree of pollution of river accurately. Spatial and temporal distribution of the biological index with similar trend of RPI and well correlated with each other. The water quality of Tanshui River evaluated by biological index in 2012 indicated that slight pollution of upstream area, medial pollution located at area of flow track length between 15-35 km, and downstream estuary affected by tidal movement was slight or medial pollution.
