碩士 / 國立宜蘭大學 / 生物資源學院碩士在職專班 / 103 / Sergestid shrimp (Sergia lucens Hansen, 1922) being one of the plankton can be directly used by humans. The main producing areas are the Japanese Suruga Bay and the southwest waters of Tungkang, Pingtung, and the northeastern waters of Gueishan Island, Yilan, Taiwan. The past studies mainly focused on ecological characteristics, reproduction, processing and its related applications. This study will focus on the fisheries production and morphological comparison of Sergia lucens in Gueishan Island waters with that of Tungkang waters. Utilization of biological parameters for morphological comparison, including body length - weight relationship, sex ratio, carapace, and the proportion of the luminous organ that at the antennas scale of rostrum nearby. And also the comparison on biological parameters with the populations from the south-western waters of Taiwan. Samples were collected from the permitted fishing season between January and July 2014 which authorized by local government. The results showed the body size of the population from Tungkang waters larger than that of Gueishan Island waters, but the proportion of the luminous organ from the two regions are similar. According to the average body length, no miniaturization for Sergia lucens from Gueishan Island waters was found. Furthermore, the first only record of fisheries production on Sergestid shrimp in Yilan from the government’s Fisheries Statistical Yearbook of the Fisheries Agency reached 185 tons in 2012. Hence, the author highly suggest not only the related organizations need initiate surveys on the populations of Sergestid shrimp in Yilan waters but also need determine an appropriate Total Allowable Catch (TAC) and implement Individual Transferable Quota (ITQ) to meet the generally accepted objectives of sustainable use of renewable resources.
