Production Efficiency Analysis of Hard Clam(Meretrix lousoria) Polyculture Farming in Yunlin , Taiwan / 臺灣雲林地區文蛤混合養殖之生產效率分析

portion, they are also on top of the list of Taiwan`s culture shellfishes.
The cultivation counties/cities in Taiwan includes Changhua County,
Yunlin County, Chiayi County and Tainan City, among these, Yunlin
County is the biggest cultivation producing 60% of hard clams in Taiwan,
In this case, Yunlin County were chosen as a represent area of hard clam
in culture form in this sfudy.
Using Data Envelope Analysis (DEA) to analyze the production
efficiency of Yunlin County`s technique in cultivation. In addition, using
Tobit regression to investigate influences other than cultivate techniques.
According to the results, the costs for cultivating hard clam includes, 29%
of personnel fee, 21%of seeding fee, 17% of fodder and fertilizer fee,
11% of electric and water fee, 10% of machinery depreciation fee, 7% of
pond repairing fee and the rest takes up 6%. 50% of 89 haed clam famers
have increasing returns, which are worth increasing investments, the
average rate of the clam cultivation and production technology efficiency
is 0.746 and 75.3% of the 89 farmers are inefficient. According to Tobit
regression farming experience and the size of the pond have significant
positive influence. On the other hard, the age of farmers and the farming
density of hard clam have significant negative influence. Other farmers
show no significant feature. In the research ofhard clam polyculture
combination efficiency analyzation, category 9 (milkfish, sparus sarba,
greasyback shrimp and kuruma prawn) has the highest average, while
category 12 (milkfish, spotted scad and kuruma prawn) has the lowest.
