碩士 / 國立中山大學 / 海洋生物科技暨資源學系研究所 / 103 / Soft corals of the genus Lobophtum and Clavularia have been proved to yield a wide variety of bioactive secondary metabolites. In this study, research for secondary metabolites of soft corals Lobophytum solidum and Clavularia flava have led to the isolation of seven new compounds. Among these, four new cembranoids 1–3 and 5, along with two known compounds 4 and 6 were isolated from L. solidum collected at Dongsha Atoll. In addition, the acetone-solubles of C. flava, collected at the Green Island have led to the isolation of one new dolabellane 9 and two new secosteroids 10 and 11, together with two known compounds 7 and 8.
The structures of these compounds were determined on the basis of their spectroscopic analyses comprising IR, UV, specific optical rotations, circular dichroism, ESIMS, 1D NMR, 2D NMR, and by comparison of the physical and spectral data with those of the related known compounds.
The cytotoxicity against of P-388 (murine lymphocytic leukemia), HT-29 (human colon adenocarcinoma), and A-549 (human lung epithelial carcinoma) cells as well as the anti-HCMV (human cytomegalovirus) activities of metabolites 1–11 were evaluated in vitro. Metabolites 1–5, 7 and 10–11 exhibited significant cytotoxic activity against A-549, HT-29 and P-388.
