Smart Cart for customers analysis and navigation by using Zigbee-Based Sensor Network / 智慧型Zigbee手推車於賣場消費者分析與導引

碩士 / 國立中山大學 / 資訊工程學系研究所 / 103 / The technology of Internet of Things (IoT) allows physical objects integrated with sensors, software, and communication to exchange information with the outside world, so as to support various applications and services. The paper proposes the system of smart shopping cart to realize two IoT-related applications in a modern supermarket: consumer-behavior collection and customer navigation. In particular, each smart shopping cart is equipped with multiple sensing modules, which can cooperatively monitor the shopping behavior of consumers.
Such information is collected by the retailer’s server through the ZigBee backbone network deployed in the supermarket, in order to analyze the preference of customers. Thus, the retailer can immediately notify the customers of sales promotion about their interesting products, without violating the privacy of customers. Furthermore, the paper also develops an efficient customer-navigation strategy to guide each customer to beat the crowds in the supermarket, so as to fast reach his/her destination. It thus helps improve the shopping experience of customers. A prototype of smart shopping cart is implemented and deployed in a real-life supermarket to demonstrate the feasibility and practicality of the proposed system. Moreover, through simulations, experimental results verify that our customer-navigation strategy significantly saves the average moving time of customers, as compared with the widely-used A* search algorithm.
