碩士 / 國立臺灣海洋大學 / 水產養殖學系 / 103 / Most of synaphobranchid eels were benthic, living in 200 to 2000 or more than 2000 meters deepwater was important of fish fauna of benthic ecology. There were 12 generas 39 species synaphobranchid eels in the world which distributed widely throughout all of world.In past,there were recorded 7 generas 16 species in Taiwan. Most of specimens were captured with the fishing method of bottom trawl or long line. Part of the synaphobranchid eels in the process of fishing,because of fishing gear or the depth of change, lead to the specimen damaged. More uncommon of the synaphobranchid specimens lacked compare data or reference.
In this study, most of the synaphobranchid eels specimens were captured from captain Jiun-Shiun Chiou living in Taitung Chang Bin township. The specimens were captured by set long line from the eastern sea of Taiwan. Also go to Academia Sinica, Fisheries Research Institute, National Museum of Marine Science and Technology to examine some uncommon specimens and borrow the synaphobranchid specimens from National Museum of Marine Biology and Academia Sinica to record to beneficial the morphometrics and meristic character.
This thesis described 3 subfamilies 8 genera, and 19 species, including 1 newly recorded genera:genus Haptenchelys and 3 newly recorded species: Synaphobranchus oregoni,Synaphobranchus calvus,Haptenchelys parviocularis.In addition,two of the unidentified species had been confirmed: Synaphobranchus sp.1 and Synaphobranchus sp.2, and gave the counts of cephalic pores.
The clustering analysis of the species in family Synaphobranchidae from Taiwan by morphometrics, mean vertebral formula, and cephalic pore counts is provided. Photographs, dentition and cephalic pores are also given.We aggregated the keys of the species in Synaphobranchidae in Taiwan. We hope this study can be helpful for further research.
