碩士 / 國立臺灣海洋大學 / 電機工程學系 / 103 / In order to know the impact of offshore wind farm on marine and aircraft radar Systems, it is important to predict the RCS (Radar Cross Section) of wind turbines. It was found that the tower scattering constitutes approximately 80% of the turbine, as the blades scattering is approximately 15%. The main purpose of this thesis is to calculate the RCS of wind turbine tower rapidly with high accuracy. The developed matlab script can calculate RCS for circular cylindrical towers and truncated cone towers with sea wave effect taken into account. Also the secondary reflections between towers are studied.
The tower is divided into n sections so that each section can use the far field approximation, and its RCS can be evaluated analytically. Adding up all the contributions from each section yields the RCS for the wind turbine tower. This approach is very efficient to calculate RCS for electrically large cylindrical or truncated cone towers, which greatly reduces computing time.
The efficient method enables us to simulate the radar echo of a wind turbines array, which may span an area of . The effect of target spreading and sidelobe detection can be observed in the radar echo display.
