碩士 / 國立臺北教育大學 / 社會與區域發展學系碩士班 / 103 / This study applies the “simulation matching model” created by Jung-Fu Chang and analyzes the limits of mate selection preference by different ages from matchmaking website.
The main findings are： (1)When they mate the men significantly prefer the much younger women than themselves. while the women prefer the older men than themselves. (2) The age groups’thresholds all decline with the age increasing, and the men decline much bigger than the women. (except for the women's age threshold) (3) When the men are around 29 years old, the age threshold is from positive to negative. It means that the men begin not to accept the women older than themselves, that represents the older male prefer the younger female more. (4)Before the age of 27, women could not accept younger than their male. They can accept the much younger male with their increasing age.
According to the concept of equal mating opportunities to establish the research database called “Sample Community”. then set the age preference for some people from research one, using suitable model to to mate and this is simulation one.The result of simulation one shows that the age accepted degree of the women before 25 years old and the men before 28 years old maintains a high degree of acceptance; then, the age accepted degree all displays the downward trend afterward. The age accepted degree of the young women under 26-years-old is more than the men with the same age. The middle-aged men between 27 to 36 years old have the better mate advantage than the women with the same age, but the older women between 37 to 41 years old have the better mate advantage than the men with the same age.
The result of simulation two shows that the age popularity women better than men .The women under 38-years-old is more than the men with the same age. The middle-aged men between 39 to 42 years old have the better mate advantage than the women with the same age, but the older women have the better mate advantage than the men with the same age.
In addition,the simulationthe result that discusses how to add the opportunity of mate selection shows: (1) If you relax your age-preference lower limit by three years old , not only unable to increase your mate opportunities, but also to make mate opportunities reduced. (2) For older people, if you relax the ceiling limit of your age preference by three years old, the opportunities of mate selection have slightly increased, and it not only has no help but appears opposite effects for the younger. (3) Set their own age preferences unchanged, only the relax heterosexual age preference lower limit, there is also no help. (4)Only relax heterosexual age preference ceiling limit by three years old, the opportunities of spouse selection have increased dramatically. In particular, the degree increasing of the older female is obviously more than the older male.
The study found there are two ways which can add the opportunity of mate selcetion：（1）To relax the heterosexual age preference ceiling limit, but this method is passive, mastership in others. (2) Early own marriage mate age: This method is active, speaking of mastership in yourself.
