A Study of the Leisure Experience, Satisfaction and Perceived Behavioral Control for the Surfers of Taiwan’s East Coast. / 臺灣東海岸衝浪者休閒體驗、滿意度與個人自覺行為控制之探討

碩士 / 國立臺東大學 / 身心整合與運動休閒產業學系 / 103 / In these recent years, Surfing has become very popular in Taiwan. Asian Surfing Championship has named the east coast of Taiwan as the newest location for international competition. Moreover, the government of Taitung County is promoting surfing and sponsor people to train abroad as surfing coaches. These reasons have made the surfing population on the east coast of Taiwan increase rapidly.
The purpose of this research is to discuss the leisure experience, satisfaction and perceived behavioral control of the surfers on Taiwan’s east coast. The research uses a cross-sectional design; conducting a structural questionnaire to the participants and athletes in 2014 International surfing contest. 162 questionnaires out of 180 were collected, resulting of a collection rate of 90%. The retrieved data was analyzed with SPSS22.0 for Windows using descriptive statistical analysis, one way ANOVA, t-test and Pearson product-moment methods. The results showed that :
A. The average age of participants are 24.62 years old, athletes are 31.04 years old. Participants mostly lives in Taitung county, athletes are mostly from other counties. Participants are mostly students and athletes are mostly non-students.
B. The results for the participant group in leisure experience category : the relationship between gender, marriage status, age, number of children, level of education and the number of surfing time is significant (p<.05) The relationship between gender, age, job, number of children and satisfaction is significant. The relationship between gender, age, number of surfing times and perceived behavioral control is significant. For the athlete group only the relationship between leisure experience and the number of children is significant.
C. In the participant group, leisure experience and satisfaction is positively correlated, as well as perceived behavioral control and satisfaction. In the athlete group, leisure experience and satisfaction is positively correlated.
D. The results for comparison between participant and athlete group in leisure experience, perceived behavioral control is significant (p<.05)
The results and conclusion of this research is to provide additional information and reference for the future research of surfing enthusiasts, the government and related future research.
