Study on the Expansion Performance of Ocean Freight Forwarder with Multiple-Country Consolidation—Case Study on T Company / 多國拆併櫃業務對海運承攬業擴張績效探討:以T公司為例

The number of ocean freight forwarders founded increases every year in our country. No matter the domestic or foreign market are very competitive. The multiple-country consolidation is an emerging business in recent years. How ocean freight forwarders make innovation in this new service to create good operating performance and improve their own competitiveness deserves further discussion.
Based on the current state and developing trend, this study discusses how ocean freight forwarders face with politics and regional economy to reintegrate responding to the changes of industrial environment, and make strategies according to internal and external advantages of companies to get regional development. Through the discussion of a specific ocean freight company, this paper studies the development strategies of ocean freight forwarders through a particular case. Adopting strategy evaluation framework put forward by Lin and Pao (2004), through the mission statement of case company, this study evaluates internal environment by 7S Model, evaluates industrial environment by Five Force Model, and evaluates overall environment by PESTEL framework, to establish the analysis framework of this study, and conclude the important relevant factors of the strategy formation of enterprises competitiveness, which can provide reference for ocean freight forwarders. The conclusions are as follows:

1. The advantages of T Company are its overall improvement of its service quality and expansion of service scope. These are helpful for its regional development strategy, and maintaining continuously high profit operating performance, which deserves much attention.
2. Based on the mission statement of T Company –“excellent international logistics management company”, it discusses it’s suitable to choose multiple-country consolidation as its specific regional strategy.
