Integrated bioproductions from fruit of Calophyllum inophyllum based on a concept of biorefinery. / 以生物精煉的概念利用瓊崖海棠果實做為生物產品的生產原料之研究

碩士 / 國立雲林科技大學 / 化學工程與材料工程系 / 103 / The oil extracted from the kernel of Calophyllum inophyllum had been considered as a potential feedstock for production of biodiesel. However, after seed collection and oil press, there are lignocellulosic byproducts leftover including pericarp (CP) and oil cake (OC) which account for more than 85% dry weight of fruit biomass. In another word, it means about 85% waste of feedstock production cost. In order to make the production of biofuels from Calophyllum inophyllum economical viable, the concept of biorefinery was applied in this study to investigate the total utilization of whole fruit biomass of Calophyllum inophyllum for bioproductions. The objectives of this study were fullfiled by i) characterization of biomass (CP and OC), ii) effects of different pretreatments on enzymatic hydrolysis of biomass, and iii) applications of biomass hydrolysate in bioproductions. For pretreatment, full factorial experimental designs were conducted to investigate the effects of pretreatment condition and post reaction wash on the lignin removal and enzymatic hydrolysis of CP. In addition, the OC was subjected to solvent extraction and enzymatic hydrolysis. The results showed that the total yield of oil was around 0.12 g/g dry fruit of Calophyllum inophyllum (0.47g/g dry kernel of Calophyllum inophyllum). The enzymatic hydrolysis of solvent extracted OC gave reducing sugar yield of 0.39 g/g dry biomass. Moreover, the sequential acid/alkaline pretreatment showed better delignification and fermentable sugar yield than alkaline or acid only pretreatment, and gave reducing sugar yield of 0.24g/g dry biomass.
