capacity, fast speed, multi-purpose and complex space. When a ferry fires, it is a big challenge to perform a rescue mission in considering various risk factors, appropriate firefighting tactics, and security operations.
This study performed literature review and interviews with experts. Then a ferry fire was simulated on the Blue Highway of Tamsui River. Then, firefighters, coast guard, police, the shipping industry and related relief organizations were connected together to save passengers safely, in order to establish the protection and tactics of ferry fire.
Known from our researches, aggregating information of the ferries, developing firefighting plans, and regular implementation of the rescue drills will be the better strategies for ferry fire rescues.
