碩士 / 建國科技大學 / 土木與防災研究所 / 104 / This study selected 3 sites (Xiaoliuqiu, Yuan-An Ridge, and Pointer Ridge) of south west off Taiwan to assess the slope stability. The bender element tests are also performed to obtain the shear wave velocity. The isotropically consolidated undrained triaxial (CIU) tests show that effective friction angle (φ’) and cohesion (c’) of these 3 sites are: (1) Xiaoliuqiu: 15°~28° and 6~20kPa; (2) Yuan-An Ridge: 23°~24° and 8~17kPa; (3) Pointer Ridge: 23°~28°and 3~7kPa.
The 2006 Pingtung earthquake had triggered numbers of submarine landslides in the offshore of SW Taiwan. The backward analysis result indicates the effective friction angle (φ’) of the sliding surface is 15.0° with a cohesion (c’) of 17.5 kPa. These evaluated strength parameters are close to the results obtained from CIU triaxial tests. It testified that the strength parameters determined by laboratory triaxial tests is representative and could be used to evaluate the seabed stability.
In accordance with the outputs of slope stability analysis, these 3 sites are stable under normal condition, but a landslide may occur when it comes to consider the seismic forces.
