The Research on Strategies of Metropolitan Transit-oriented Development - A Case Study of Taichung Gateway District / 大眾運輸導向之都市發展策略研究-以台中水湳經貿園區為例

The main node in the city want to achieve the development of public transport meaning, it has to work out a sound plan for the node. Urbanization causes the environmental problems. Many cities have found that the excessive use of the automobile causes various problems such as traffic congestion, and even negative impact on the development of a city. However the Transit-Oriented Development can reduce urban sprawl and make the environment sustainable development in the future. The transit-oriented development (TOD) uses transit stations as the hub of urban development and integration of regional public transportation systems to create a good urban environment and provide high quality of life to live surroundings.
The study take development strategy of TODas a topic and first discusses the theory of TODand cases in foreign countries to understand deeply its meaning and application. Take the Gateway District as the example, we analyze strategies. To meet the development goals of the Gateway District and ensure the implementation of TODpolicy objectives, we discuss and analyze of examples by research and provide another objective of development strategies.
