Taiwan MRT transport system carries its average daily volume of up to more than two million people. In addition to livelihood, transportation and business in metropolitan area, with the forthcoming operation of Airport Link, the MRT will stand as an important position of being the gateway to connect the world and Taiwan. Without a doubt, MRT is a first choice of the future public transit facilities in Taiwan. Moreover, it enhances the standard of living and economic development of Taiwan.
Due to rapid speed, comfort setting, punctual, and environmental friendly, the carry capacity of MRT have a sharp rise annually. To face the millions of passengers in a day, it’s important that the MRT companies need to pay attention on safety of passengers. MRT passengers safety issue is not only related to safety but also cause turmoil and anxiety of the people, Taipei MRT random murder case on May 21, 2014 is a shock example .
The research focus on the object–passenger safety and risk management of MRT company T , through the case study research methodology, it analyzes if frontline staffs of MRT company have awareness of passengers’ safety risk, ability of emergency crisis reactions, and capability regards to feedback on risk assessment or not, because that the frontline staffs directly face the crisis of passenger and they are the main role of passenger disaster reduction. Depth interview is the way to collect the information from frontline staffs of company T for the case study. The axes of depth interview , including passenger safety risk prevention ; crisis management; and feedback on passenger safety risk assessment. According to the result of above case study, the research proposes the recommendations for passenger safety risk management to MRT company T and direction for future researches.
