碩士 / 弘光科技大學 / 護理研究所 / 104 / According to Ministry of the Interior and Statistics Department of Taiwan, elderly population has been rapidly increased to 12.8 percent to be the world number one in June 2016. In the aging process, the various loss has become an important factor in death. But fortunately, There were methods of improving the situation of depression is exercise.The purpose of this research is to analyze the related relationship between exercise and depressive symptoms of the elderly population in communities of Taichung city. Convenience sampling was used and 200 subjects were recruited. The instruements of this research is structured questionnaire, including demographic characteristics, Godin Leisure-Time Exercise Questionnaire (LTEQ), and Geriatric Depression Scale Short Form (GDS-SF). Data was analyzed for decrriptive and inferential statistics in the methods of frequency, percentage, man, standard deviation, chi-square test, independent t test, one-way ANOVA and Logistic regression analysis by SPSS/IBM 20.0 statistical software.
The result of this study reveals that the mean age of the elderly people in communities is 73.73(SD=7.180). There were 56% subjects have exercise. Most of them take a walk, chose mild intensity exercise.The frequency of their exercise every week is 4.6 times a week (SD=1.9). The mean time is 45.5 minutes (SD=24.2) each exercise. There were 47.5% elderly people who are in depressive symptoms. The significant factors which can influence the depressive symptoms of the elderly people in communities are demographic characteristics and exercise (p<.05). The significant factors which can influence the depressive symptoms of the elderly people in communities are age, economical condition, self-aware health condition, chronic diseases, exercise intensity, exercise frequency every week, every exercise time, and exercise quantity by logistic regression. According to this results, we suggest community healh nurses should carefully take care of the depressive symptoms situation of the elderly people, and fulfill the screening of depression. Furthermore, we suggest community nurses should arrange appropriate exercise intensity, exercise frequency, and exercise time to reduce the situation of the elderly people depressive symptoms while they have community activities or community health promotion activities.
