碩士 / 景文科技大學 / 旅遊管理系觀光與餐旅管理碩士班 / 104 / In Taiwan, with its gradually increasing elderly population, older age groups are now an important target segment for the tourism industry. Therefore, this study explores the overseas travel motivations, travel constraints, and constraint negotiation strategies of older individuals. A survey administered to individuals over the age of 50 years and living in New Taipei City obtained 319 valid responses. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS, an advanced statistical tool. The data analysis techniques included descriptive statistics, reliability and validity tests, Pearson product-moment correlation, Spearman rank correlation, and an ordered logit model. The results indicate that travel motivations have a partly significant influence on travel constraints. Travel constraints, in turn, have a significant influence on constraint negotiation strategies. Nevertheless, travel motivations have no significant influence on overseas travel participation frequency. Thus, the hypothesis is not supported. Travel constraints and “behavior modification strategy” of constraint negotiation strategies have a significant negative influence on overseas travel participation frequency. In addition, gender, working conditions and monthly freedom to spend money have significant positive and negative influences, respectively, on overseas travel participation frequency. The study hopes to provide practical recommendations for domestic travel-related industries, the government, and academia to improve participation in overseas travel among older age groups.
