The Coast Guard Administration (CGA) is responsible for maritime affairs, maritime services, and maritime law enforcement. The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between role conflict, work stress, and quality of life with Coast Guard personnel in Kinmen Area as the research sample. The mediating effect of work stress was also explored. A total of 134 questionnaires were collected, of which 130 are valid. The result of this study showed positive significant relationship between role conflict and work stress. It was found that there is negative significant relationship for work stress and quality of life. It was also found that work stress has mediating effect on the relationship between work stress and quality of life. The result of this study showed that role conflict is an important factor as source of stress. Therefore, the management of CGA should face up to the role conflict of frontline Coast Guard personnel. Besides, supervisors should be attentive to their feeling of stress and provide guidance to Coast Guard personnel for the relief of stress at any time to avoid over response to negative stress.
