Study of water quality for aquaponics with oyster shell bio-media / 牡蠣殼生物介質之魚菜共生水質探討

碩士 / 高苑科技大學 / 化工與生化工程研究所 / 104 / In this study, the water qualities were evaluated by combining different aquaponic systems. The experimental factories included bio-medium (oyster shell and ceramic ring), food (processing fish feed and mixing nature fish feed), fish (Zhu Wenjin and tilapia). The measurement of water qualities were pH, dissolved oxygen (DO), conductivity (EC), ammonia nitrogen, nitrate nitrogen, nitrite nitrogen, biological oxygen demand (BOD), chemical oxygen demand (COD). Moreover, the surface structure and element analysis of oyster shells, ceramic ring, processing fish feed and mixing nature fish feed were investigated.
The results show that the surface structure was very different between oyster shell and ceramic ring. The oyster shell has a multilayer structure conducted in a large specific surface area. Thus, the surface of oyster shell can support the biofilm to be attached and resulted in a large amount of microorganism growth. On the other hand, the main component of oyster shell and ceramic ring were calcium and silicon, respectively. Further, the mixing nature fish feed can supply nutrients sufficiently for the growth of fish. The water qualities analysis showed that the variable of pH was smaller by the treatment of oyster shell bio-medium than that by ceramic ring bio-medium. In addition, the nitrate nitrogen increased in the end of the experiment due to the growth of fish gradually lead to the feces increased. Therefore, the ammonia nitrogen transfer to nitrate nitrogen successfully by nitrobacteria. Moreover, the dissolved oxygen can be kept above 6.4 mg/L by 24 hours continuous aeration to supply oxygen for fish living.
