Progressive Application of Wayfinding Signage System in the Space of Asian International Airports and Mass Rapid Transit Stations / 尋路標識系統在空間中發展的應用-以亞洲國際機場與大眾運輸為例

碩士 / 嶺東科技大學 / 視覺傳達設計系碩士班 / 104 / This study aims to investigate the Wayfinding Signage System design and current application in Asian in order to enhance compatriots’ cognition and attention on the Wayfinding Signage System in transportation space design. Basic structure of the study is established with the relation between Wayfinding Signage System theory and research topic, along with literature review, selection and analysis. The World’s Top Airports in Asia released from Skytrax assists the research to target on Singapore Changi Airport, Incheon International Airport, Hong Kong International Airport, and Taoyuan International Airport as well as Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) in local areas for investigating, generalizing and comparing Wayfinding Signage System.

Strict evaluation standards and principles of visual construction in transportation Wayfinding Signage System design and installation are established in the three significant countries individually. Furthermore, worldwide universality and localized identification in the Wayfinding Signage System are being constructed with appropriate composition and application which reduce the cognitive difficulties caused by different cultures. Taiwan domestic transportation is designed and constructed with thoughtful plan but disorganized by the Wayfinding Signage System which further leads to a series of problems in wayfinding. The research encourages to absorb experiences and develop suitable system so that Taiwan domestic transportation would be able to present a user-friendly environment.
