The physiological characteristics and biochemical analysis of hydroponics tomatoes using deap ocean water / 水耕式栽種番茄添加海洋深層水養液之生理特性及生化分析

In this study, method of hydroponics was combined with using deep ocean water. Deep ocean water added to the nutrient fluid, after which was used for growing tomatoes. The growth of tomato was observed and analyzed. A hydroponic system was designed in the interior, which was perfectly suitable for growing tomato, by using LED light instead of daylight. Nutrient fluid was made with certain concentration which was suitable for growing tomato. The concentrated deep ocean water was diluted by using the nutrient fluid into different concentration, which were used to grow tomato. In addition, the activity of antioxidant enzymes and non-enzymatic antioxidant were analyzed, whether the deep ocean water have any positive effect on the growth of tomato, and discovering the appropriate nutrition fluid dilution.
In this study, adding six different concentration of deep ocean water : 0% (control), 0.1%, 0.2 %, 0.3 %, 0.4 %, 0.5%, to the nutrition fluid. According to the growth data, there were no significant changes on the height of the plant. However, the leaves of the tomato, which was added nutrition fluid with concentration of 0.5% deep ocean water, had leaf condition with yellow and parched. Also, the new-grown leaves were yellowish green and narrow. The lower the concentration of deep ocean water, the less the leaves were affected. The sample group which added 0.1% deep ocean water had same leaf condition compare to the control group. In this case, it was determined that with adding 0.1% deep ocean water to the nutrition fluid is the best possible dilution. In the aspect of the activity of the enzymes, the experimental groups with different concentration of deep ocean water have lower APX and GR enzyme activity compare to the control group. The enzyme activity of SOD had the highest result in the experimental group with nutrition fluid with 0.4% and 0.5% concentration of deep ocean water. In the aspect of the activity of the non-enzyme, the experimental group with nutrition fluid with 0.1% concentration of deep ocean water have the best activity of scavenging DPPH free radicals and the highest amount of polyphenolic compound, and the result is significantly higher than the control group.
According to the result above, the sample group with adding the nutrition fluid with 0.1% concentration of deep ocean water have similar growth status compare to the control group. In addition, activity of scavenging DPPH free radicals and the amount of polyphenolic compound were significantly increased. In conclusion, it was determined that 0.1% of deep ocean water is the best dilution facter.
