Senior High Tourism Awareness of Tourism - A Case Study of Tokai University Affiliated Experimental High School / 高中生日本旅遊經驗對當地生活方式理解之探究 -以東海大學附屬實驗高級中學為例

In this era of globalization, the ever-changing international situation, geography curriculum must also keep up with changes in the world, to enable students to quickly and accurately understand the situation and characteristics of national development, and to expand their horizons, has enough international outlook, Taiwanese students have sufficient capacity to compete with the world elite. Therefore, what we need to do is to enhance students' motivations in the area of geography.
To increase students’ learning, how to motivate their learning ability is a very important step in teaching. Hence, if we have a better understanding of whether the travel experience will affect the students' interest and motivation for the future regional geography teaching, it will be helpful.This study adopted "quasi-experimental designs" study. Students have opportunities to travel to Japan in the winter vacation. Students do the pre-test which may understand whether students have a basic knowledge about this country before going abroad to learn the Japanese. Then doing the post-test when students come back from Japan. The purpose of the study is to compare these two groups of the students who have different cognitions toward Japan.
The main results of this study are as follows: first, the students has improved significantly their awareness about this country. Second, traveling is an effective wat to increased the aspects of "food", "clothes", "live", and “transprotaion.” Third, the experiences of traveling indeed reinforce and strengthen the expression of country. In other words, this way also have a greatly effect on students’ learning motivations in geography.
Finally, the study findings may serve as a guide for further research on management and leadership of geography teaching. Morever, this survey provide the new direction of teaching and the effectiveness of learning in education in Taiwan.
