However, besidesserious pollution on and ineffective protection of marine resources, overfishing and illegal fishing are getting the fisheriesmuch worse than ever. What are the cosequences these tendencies had on the fish market and fish stock underwritting system of Penghu Magong?This study uses semi-structured in-depth interview method as well as literature review to explore, firstly,the history of Penghu fish market and fishery underwriting system as a whole. Secondly, this study alsotry to realise the status quo as well as the prospective policy of Penghu fish market throughseveral interviews. We find out that Penghu fish market is hit by the decrease of catches, the increasing direct trading at harbours outside Magong as well as withinPenghu fish market itself.Besides, thereis a new rising big threat from online marketing of Penghu seafood that greatly benefit from popularity of web as well as community networks, like Facebook. This study suggests that Penghu fish market should try to diversify the fishery underwriting system through adoption of new, web-based technology, and also to counseling and training underwriters and fishers to catch up the stream.
