A study of the parallel correction guidance scheme for marine vessel track-keeping maneuvers / 平行修正導航法於船舶軌跡追蹤之探討

碩士 / 國立臺灣海洋大學 / 運輸科學系 / 104 / The work is a verification study of the parallel correction (PC) guidance scheme while using numerical simulation and (USDDC Maneuvering System, UMS-2011) ship handling simulator as the test platform for the vessel path following maneuver. The traditional Line-of-Sight (LOS) guidance method has been widely adopted in vessel navigation. The traditional autopilot system was only focused on the course keeping maneuver, thus it will cause some cross-track errors by the transverse wind, current and wave disturbances. This study proposes a parallel correction guidance law which adopted the cross-track errors as feedback information to correct the reference heading angle and is used to determine the rudder commands to steer the vessel back to the desired path. This can prevent the significant cross-track error in advance during the path following maneuver. This study is concerned with the comparison of two types of guidance methods; which is the traditional line-of-sight guidance law and the parallel correction guidance concept. In the first stage, the numerical computer simulations was conducted to evaluate the feasibility of the proposed parallel correction guidance method. The next stage, the feasibility of the autopilot system verified by performing a series of path following maneuvers using ship handling simulator-based experiments under strong environmental disturbance condition. Experimental studies indicated successful paths following maneuvers were achieved by using the proposed parallel correction guidance method. In summary, this study proposed new type of guidance method along with vessel track-keeping autopilot design method and performances of different guidance methods are analyzed.
