碩士 / 國立臺灣海洋大學 / 通訊與導航工程學系 / 104 / The conversion of paper chart information into intelligent application is previously based on the Electronic Navigational Chart specifications of IHO S-57. But S-57 has some limitations, thus S-100 standard appears. The S-10X series of products based on S-100 will support a wider range of hydrographic data, products and customers, including the support of 3-D or user settings.
This thesis references IHO S-100 standards, especially the portrayal part, uses open source software, GeoServer, to build the back end chart server, and tests the display of ENC data with the symbols and style files of the S-100 Portrayal. Finally a front end client application is developed using OpenLayers, with ExtJS as OpenLayers' framework. The thesis combines the S-100 portrayal rules and symbols to test the display of representative chart objects, and designed a web map service that mimics the standard ENC display.
Currently spatial data for the testing of S-100 portrayal are taken from S-57 ENC instead of S-101. If changed to S-101 ENC, these tests on portrayal mechanism should remain applicable. The advantage of using IHO S-100 portrayal mechanism is that new symbol design can be updated, e.g. via satellite, without updating the chart system software.
