Study on the species composition and diversity of Nippo setnet fishing ground in Miaoli / 苗栗日豐定置漁場漁獲組成與多樣性研究

This study was tried to evaluate the fishery resources structure of Nippo set net fishing ground by using the landing data with the index of relative importance, biodiversity and the coefficient of variation in the coastal waters of Miaoli during the period of 2013 to 2015.
The results indicated that 111 species of fish were caught by set net in this period of January 2013 - May 2015. The catch per unit effort (CPUE) were varied between 391.38 ~ 1067.18 kg/day. The seasonal pattern of diversity index, biological diversity index and evenness index was similar to each other, while the richness index and seasonal alter index is also varied by season. The high abundance index was appear in spring and summer, but lower in autumn and winter. For the diversity of the threshold, the pattern of seasonal variation is similar to the richness index, as the diversity threshold was reach to 1.99 and 2.01, respectively, in the period of the spring and summer of 2013 and 2014. It indicated that the biodiversity is more abundant during the spring and summer in the coastal waters of the Nippo setnet fishing ground.

Further, the ecological dominant species include white-croaker, horse-mackerel, belt-fish with the IRI larger than 1000, belongs to the migratory and seasonal species. The alter index and movement index show the seasonal change of the fish community. Based on the comparison of the same season but the different year, the immigrated species of Neritic squid, Silver batfish, Ditch scad, and Torpedo scad are belonged to the common species in this fishing ground.

In addition, the higher production of fisheries was happened in March /April and September/October respectively, It hinted that the seasonal temperature change induced by the Kuroshio Current and Mainland coast cold current in the western waters of Taiwan, may influence the seasonal changes of dominant species composition.
