On the develop of music, creativity has been play the dual role of art and education .Due to the experience of teaching, author was profoundly realized the importance of teaching local piano pieces. These local piano pieces not only expend the students skills ,but also inspire students’ imagination easily. It is equally important to contact western music and local music. Based on the concept ,”A Sketch of the Rainy Harbor” and”Suite Taiwan For Piano Solo” will be the spindle of this thesis’ mainly discussions.
”A Sketch of the Rainy Harbor” and”Suite Taiwan For Piano Solo” were composed by renowned Taiwanese composer Ma Shui-Long. The traditional music ,such as local folk elements and Bei-quan ,were the inspiration of these two Solo piano pieces ,which combined worth circulating tradition into the songs .From these two music works ,we can sense the beauty of Taiwan ,which is full of musical arts and local spirits.
From the perspective of teaching, this thesis analyzed the music form; music concept and the effects of interpretation. In practical and academic fields, this thesis discuss the teaching essentials and practicing methods of ”A Sketch of the Rainy Harbor” and”Suite Taiwan For Piano Solo”. It is hoped that by way of having an in-depth of analysis, this thesis can provide further understanding of teaching local piano pieces.
